Funeral service for Ida M. Faulstick of Emmetsburg will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Dennis Angland will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers are Mrs. Faulstick’s grandsons: Mark Sprague, David Sprague, Ryan Faulstick, John Hatch, Wesley Plinke and Tyler Faulstick. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home. Mrs. Faulstick died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. She was 80. Ida Marie (Bernau) Faulstick was born Aug. 27,1924, in West Bend, the daughter of August and Marie (Van Buren) Bernau. She attended school in Kossuth County and graduated from Algona High School in 1942. She continued her education at Iowa State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate, then taught in one room school houses in Kossuth County. On March 12, 1944, Ida and Victor A. Faulstick were married in Whittemore. Vic and Ida farmed in Kossuth and Palo Alto Counties for several years. In 1971 they purchased the Chic-Tok restaurant in Emmetsburg. They operated their business until retiring in 1991. Ida enjoyed traveling to see her family in the Pacific Northwest. She loved dancing, tea parties, reading and playing cards. She was an avid collector. Ida was an active and devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her involvement with St. Paul Preschool and Bible studies held at the church. |

FAULSTICK Surviving are her children, Louise and Gary Sprague of Jacksonville, Ore., Juliana and James Myers of Newport, Ore., Roger and Sue Faulstick of Emmetsburg, Brenda and Ken Plinke of Hillsboro, Ore., Jeff and Laura Faulstich of Redmond, Wash., and Steve and Tiffany Faulstick of Vancouver, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, August Bernau and Roland Bernau of Algona, and Ernest Bernau of Fountain, Minn.; and a sister, Emilie Bernau of Waterloo. Mrs. Faulstick was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; her parents; a sister, Vera Harms; and a brother, Otto Bernau. |
